HAKI System Scaffolding used to support the Metropolis development (242 Marylebone Road) - Westminster, London

Located in the London Borough of Westminster, 242 Marylebone Road also known as Metropolis, will, when completed provide London with a refurbished eight-story office building and multiple retail spaces at ground level. Having been left vacant following the liquidation of Woolworths in 2015 the building was secured by ISG Construction in March 2022 as part of a £50m contract and is due for completion in August 2024.

HAKI, in collaboration with Alltask, have provided an extensive range of system scaffolding solutions to the site including –

•    HAKI Universal System Scaffolding on multiple elevations, HAKITEC Weather Protection Roofs, inner courtyard scaffolding, and more.

•    HAKI Stair Towers offering safe vertical access and egress throughout construction.

Every element of the scaffold structure, from the load calculations to the intricate design, has been carefully planned to ensure maximum safety, efficiency, and aesthetic appeal for site operatives and the general public. This project exemplifies Alltask’s commitment to design excellence and the high standards maintained in every project.

Sustainability has been a priority throughout the build and will aim for BREEAM Outstanding rating and Net Zero Carbon operation. Much of the material used on-site will be repurposed resulting in 4,500 tonnes of carbon saved during the construction process and diverted from landfill.

Cross laminated timber (CLT) will also be used for the new 7 storey extension, an increasingly popular material which can supported by recently developed HAKI Edge Protection products, VC Foot Timber Plate and CLT Catchfan Slab Attachment Mount
