HAKI selected for Harold Wilson Court refurbishment

The HAKI Universal System Scaffolding has been chosen by IBN Scaffold for the refurbishment of Harold Wilson Court in Huddersfield town centre. This 11-storey high-rise residential project, managed by Wates, began in September 2023 and focuses on comprehensive fire safety enhancements to ensure compliance with strict health and safety regulations.

Project Overview

Part of a wider initiative to improve safety in residential buildings, the refurbishment involves critical upgrades to protect residents, including:

  • Installation of a new sprinkler system, increasing effectiveness when controlling or extinguishing a fire.
  • Application of fire regulation-compliant rendering which safeguards the building against potential fire hazards.
  • Balcony improvements to strengthen Wilson Court’s structural integrity.

Why HAKI Universal System Scaffolding?

For such a complex project, IBN Scaffold selected the HAKI Universal System. Its adaptability and operational efficiency made it the ideal choice for the refurbishment of Harold Wilson Court to address the project's time constraints and safety priorities. Key benefits of the system include:

  • Time Efficiency: Its modular design enables faster assembly and dismantling, reducing labour hours and shortening project timelines.
  • Cost and Safety Advantages: Durable, reusable components lower long-term costs and improve on-site safety by minimising loose parts.

Additional product

In addition to HAKI Universal System Scaffolding, two HAKI Stair Towers were deployed. These towers played a vital role in providing more efficient and safer access for workers and materials across all levels of the building thanks to two standout features:

  • High load capacity, supporting up to 4kN/m², with optional tripod bases increasing the capacity to 50kN.

Conclusion

Scheduled for completion in Winter 2024, this project exemplifies the benefits of modern scaffolding solutions in residential safety upgrades. With its focus on safety, efficiency and adaptability, the HAKI Universal System and HAKI Stair Towers have proven indispensable in ensuring the timely and safe execution of the Harold Wilson Court refurbishment. By providing safe access and reducing risks during construction, the system directly contributes to the creation of a safer, regulation-compliant living environment for residents.
