HAKITEC 750 Weather Protection safeguarded the restoration of Limerick's historic Cleeves Riverside Quarter, providing a fully enclosed temporary roof that enabled safe, uninterrupted heritage works despite challenging weather conditions.

Timber Square is a low-carbon development in Southwark, London, combining a transformed 1950s printworks with a new hybrid steel and cross laminated timber (CLT) office building. HAKI provided rental of temporary edge protection, Catchfan debris nets and bespoke CLT safety solutions, supported by on-site training.

The municipality of Alingsås, Sweden, is in the process of transforming the historic Kabomhuset into a modern municipal office, bringing to light the building's rich heritage and unique challenges. The building needed extensive repairs, including restoration of the roof structure, beams, walls and floors.

In summer 2023 HAKI were presented with the challenge of providing a solution for safe access into the flooded quarry which has a deepest underwater point of 80 meters. This solution needed to have multiple levels above and below the water to provide employees access to the research facility and the 360m2 pontoon for deploying subs.

Work on refurbishment of one of the tallest tower blocks within Canary Wharf began in July 2023 and is due for completion in 2025. This full refurbishment will ensure that the building, opened in 2001, is modernised whilst setting a new standard in sustainable design.

The renovation of the tower roofs at Lund Cathedral, Sweden, is a unique project where nearly 900 years of cultural heritage meet modern engineering. Through advanced scaffolding solutions, weather protection, and structural calculations, HAKI enabled a safe and efficient renovation – while keeping the cathedral open to visitors. The project’s technical complexity and high quality were rewarded with the Grand Prize at Construction of the Year 2024.

The old Tøyenbadet in Oslo has been demolished and the brand new indoor swimming pool facility is now a work in progress – with HAKI selected as the main shoring and scaffolding supplier together with our customer MB Stillas. Tøyenbadet will be the city's largest swimming facility, and will consist of both indoor and outdoor areas.

The Alupercha, the new lightweight fall arrest system from HAKI has achieved its first milestone, having just completed its first commercial workzone project after its recent market launch. 

HAKI Edge Protection system was installed on the Project Sapphire site in Cambridge to help ensure that work was completed with zero incidents. Fully compliant with EN 13374, Class A, the barrier system provided a highly effective edge protection solution that was able to guarantee the safety of all workers. 

A rope access inspection of the South Span of the Forth Rail Bridge highlighted a number of fractures in the steelwork that required to be repaired. Suitable access was required to allow repairs to the steelwork and coating works.

Hound Point, an Ineos-operated oil export terminal on the Forth Estuary, required recoating of a deteriorated access walkway.

Due to load restrictions preventing traditional scaffolding, a lightweight, fully contained painting gantry was needed to provide safe access while maintaining operations.

Ensus UK, a bioethanol fuel manufacturer producing sustainable livestock feed by-products, required a replacement for an end-of-life industrial grain dryer. To support installation and commissioning, HAKI Access Solutions was contracted to design, supply, and install a temporary system scaffold building to provide weather protection — ensuring construction activities, particularly welding, were protected from wind interference.

The Royal Border Bridge is a Grade I listed 28-span masonry arch viaduct carrying the East Coast Main Line over the River Tweed. Inspections identified defects including loose brickwork, open joints, parapet deformation, fractured pattress plates, and other masonry deterioration.

HAKI Access Solutions were contracted to design and install a bespoke access solution to enable safe access for the abseiling team to complete the required repairs.

Braefoot Bay marine terminal required safe access to corroded dolphin walkways for inspection and repair works.

A suspended access deck was installed to enable steel repairs and coating works, including application of a STOPAQ wrapping system to reduce future maintenance and extend service life.

Offshore crane maintenance is essential but highly disruptive when using traditional scaffolding.

HAKI Access Solutions developed a rapid-deploy crane boom access system for blasting and painting, reducing downtime, labour and equipment while allowing the crane to return to service quickly when required.

BP Mungo, part of the ETAP infrastructure, required upgraded emergency accommodation and ongoing access support for fireproofing and future system installations.

HAKI Access Solutions designed and installed a suspended underdeck platform to enable commissioning of the accommodation unit, with further reconfigurations planned to support fireproofing works and potential fire-fighting system installation.

Esso Fawley, the largest refinery in Europe, required relining of one of its storage tanks to accommodate aviation fuel, including specialist coating and roof upgrades.

HAKI Access Solutions proposed an alternative access solution to traditional scaffolding for spray application works, supporting the use of a remotely operated closed blasting system to improve surface preparation quality while reducing risk and cost.

In the UK North Sea, Sparrows Offshore engaged HAKI Access to design and install bespoke access solutions to support replacement of a main winch drum.

The scope required installation of a suspended access platform beneath the boom and erection of a temporary lifting frame using ladder beams, enabling safe installation of a davit crane and associated supporting steelwork.

During routine inspections of the Forth Road Bridge in 2015, a crack in the pivot of one of the truss end links was discovered. The changeout of the affected steelwork initially took 18 months to complete; largely slowed down by the traditional scaffolding having to be continually modified to react to the changing work scope.

The scaffolding for maintenance work on MÆRSK INSPIER is supplied by HAKI A/S in collaboration with SEMCO MARITIME A/S. The position is approx. 60 meters high, and there are scaffolding on all three legs, about 390 tons of HAKI.

HAKI and CCS Scaffolding were engaged by Wessex Capacity Alliance – a collaboration between Skanska UK, Mott MacDonald, AECOM, Colas Rail – to provide safe, temporary access solutions at Waterloo Station, while around £400m worth of improvements are made. 

Representing a significant milestone in the UK’s nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first of a new wave of nuclear power sites across the nation which will supply low-carbon electricity for around six million homes. HAKI is working across HPC, supplying temporary buildings and shelters throughout.

The Crane Boom on the Total Dunbar offshore platform had deteriorated due to harsh conditions and required changing with minimal disruption. The weather meant that the safety boat could only operate in certain conditions, so the amount of time spent erecting & dismantling the sections of the scaffolds classed as over board was a critical factor. 

Leading main contractor Enigma Industrial Services Ltd has chosen HAKI Scaffolding for their modern, high-profile ‘The Ropeworks’ construction project at Salamander Place in the heart of the vibrant community of Leith, in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland. 

As one of the largest oil discoveries ever made, the Johan Sverdrup field will be one of the most important industrial projects in Norway for the next 50 years. 

NJS purchased a 3-meter-high Public Access Stair (PAS) from HAKI to facilitate an exit route from the stand, as part of the one-way system.

Established building and civil engineering contractor Farrans Construction chose HAKI Universal Scaffolding and Public Access Stair (PAS) to provide a temporary access solution at Parliament Hill School in Highgate, London, while new build and renovation works were carried out. 

With free span of 1,145 meters, the bridge is the fifth largest suspension bridge in Europe and the second largest in Norway. It opened to traffic in December 2018, following 5 years of construction. 

20 Fenchurch Street, London is colloquially known as the Walkie Talkie, borne from its distinctive ‘handset’ appearance benefitted from the use of Catchfans throughout construction. 

HAKI has supported the edge protection requirements on this flagship project by supplying 8,000 linear metres of barriers to maintain the safety of project workers and the public in one of the busiest areas of Toronto.

HAKI was the chosen supplier for edge protection providing our barrier system complete with a customised Post edge solution across the buildings 49 floors. 

We specified the use of HAKI-Span 750 suspended access platform. While used for a number of previous projects, both on and offshore, this installation required a creative deviation from our typical methods of installation. Due to the lack of available pick-ups for both the finished platform, and for the rope access installation team, HAKI Access Solutions used additional wire rope winches to gain access to the area, and to facilitate the installation.

HAKI Access Solutions have been working in strategic partnership with Sparrows, with a portfolio of existing successful scopes jointly executed. This was driven by the need to bring in a specialist provider to offer true innovation with regards to crane maintenance requirements and move away from traditional methods.
