Class A - Low Slope Use

Testing focuses on wind loadings to the system and static loads to simulate falls onto the barrier or accidents. HAKI conducts a series of pull tests to assess post strength and permissible barrier/wind loadings. This allows for the identification of potential system configurations that will perform optimally under real-world conditions. 

All HAKI products are tested to Class A as a minimum.

Compliance Testing

Class B - Medium Slope Use

For Class B and C Edge Protection systems, HAKI uses a separate dynamic testing rig, adjustable between the two classes. Class B tests involve swinging a 50kg bag at specified locations along a built Barrier System and measuring the relative deflection. 

This may be used if the angle is less than 30° without limitation of the falling height or 60° and the falling height is less than 2m. 

Compliance Testing

Class C - High Slope

Using ramp impact tests to assess high-energy impacts in high-slope environments. Conducted through the "cylinder test" in which a 1m 75.5kg cylinder is rolled down a 5m ramp inclined to 60°. 

This may be used if the angle is between 30° and 45° without limitation of the falling height or 40° to 60° if the falling height is less than 5m. 

Measuring & Reporting

HAKI uses advanced load cells and measuring equipment to precisely monitor the forces exerted in each Class A test. Whereas Class B and C tests are measured using bespoke equipment with high speed videography. The measurements are analysed to identify failure points, ensuring that all systems meet or exceed safety thresholds. For Class A testing, we also utilise screen recordings to capture load applications, providing further transparency and documentation for compliance. 

The Never Compromise on Safety philosophy is embedded in every step of the design and testing process. To ensure the highest level of expertise, HAKI assigns two experienced engineers to oversee the design and testing phases separately. This division of roles aligns with EN 13374 guidelines and allows for independent, thorough evaluation.
